Post-Christmas Resolution, Day 181 – They Eat Before I Eat

Bought and delivered a couple cases of canned food to the Sunshine Food Pantry before I went out for lunch today.

Import canned foods in Kobe

I usually don’t think much about lunch. However, today I tried something different for lunch. Before I ate, I went to a local grocery store and bought the approximate dollar amount in canned food as my lunch would be.

After I delivered the canned food, and was dining on my chinese food, I thought about how many people would be fed with the food I delivered in comparison to the food that I was eating.

I also listened to this report on NPR tonight about how getting unused food to pantries is difficult. Americans waste 150 billion pounds of food per year.

We take a lot for granted. Perhaps food should not be.
