Post-Christmas Resolution, Day 50 – Giving Time Opens Your Eyes

Today’s giving: Spent the night at the Tigard Good Neighbor Center as an overnight host and saw the face of homelessness first-hand.

homeless mother and child great depressionI’ve written about how giving your time connects you with your community. Last night, I saw close up how a job loss or drug addiction can affect a family. I met a few of the people, all with children, some with jobs, trying to get back on their feet. They were very much like my family.

The Good Neighbor Center in Tigard runs on donations and we’re fortunate to have it in our community. Please consider donating to them.

But also, the next time you think about dropping a coin in an offering plate, or writing a check for charity, make a plan to give your time as well.

It will open your eyes.

About Eric Winger

Our perception of time is key to how we use our time. The most fundamental way to change that perception is to give our time. This opens us up to new opportunities and ideas from which we can build to really make a difference. ... Yes, we *do* have time to make a difference!
