Some homeless families staying at the Tigard Good Neighbor Center will have some extra clothes that I gathered up and donated.
Science Magazine ran an article summarizing the results of three surveys done on whether giving made people happier. In all three, the answer was yes.
One of the surveys authors, Elizabeth Dunn of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada says of the results,
‘Giving once might make a person happy for a day, but “if it becomes a way of living, then it could make a lasting difference,” she says.’
The difference may be even more pronounced by giving your time because you are immersing yourself in another’s improvement.
Its no secret after all, happiness may live in what we give.
