Post-Christmas Resolution, Day 175 – Is Relaxation The Goal?

My wife had a bad reaction to some new contact lenses. I ran to the store to get her some medicine … Read a chapter of Beyonders to my kids even though I still needed to work on the presentation I’m giving at the Toastmasters Leadership Institute tomorrow.

Summer is officially here in the Pacific Northwest. Kids around the region got out of school yesterday. Vacations are starting. Relaxing is beginning.

But is relaxation our goal? Is it really what we want out of life? Do we really want a life of lying on hot beaches splashing in the waves?

It sounds good, it feels good, and it can bring some much-needed stress relief.  But is that really what we work for? Do we work to live or work to give?

Just a thought to ponder while you are at the beach.

About Eric Winger

Our perception of time is key to how we use our time. The most fundamental way to change that perception is to give our time. This opens us up to new opportunities and ideas from which we can build to really make a difference. ... Yes, we *do* have time to make a difference!

  1. Interesting. I think its a grass is always greener type scenario. When I’m working I look forward to holidays to relax and “do nothing” but on those rare occassions when I’ve had an extended period of time off, I get bored and restless and feel very unproductive. Everything in moderation.
