“The only gift is a portion of thyself.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
When a gift is given, it’s given.
When you expect something in return it’s not a gift. It’s a loan.
When you give a loan you become a banker.
I’ve never met an elderly banker that wishes he had made more loans in his life. I’ve only met elderly people that wish they had given more.
A gift is not a loan, but the return on investment is far greater.
Yesterday’s gift of time … Dropped off a couple bags of clothes at Goodwill.
