Deeper Commitment. Deeper Reward.

“All great masters are chiefly distinguished by the power of adding a second, a third, and perhaps a fourth step in a continuous line. Many a man had taken the first step. With every additional step you enhance immensely the value of your first.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

The more effort we put into something, the more reward we get out of it.

Peter Paul Rubens 105 1

This is so often the case in life. We put the extra work in and there will be a reward. It applies to school, career, art, leisure, family, sport, neighborhood, or community. It may not always be the reward we expected, but there is a reward.

It’s no different than giving your time. Commit to giving your time more to the people that matter most in your life and you’ll connect more deeply with the people that matter most in your life. Commit to giving your time to the people in your community and you’ll connect more deeply with the people in your community.

Connection is meaning, purpose, fulfillment, opportunity, satisfaction, friendship, and maybe even a dose of happiness.

If that’s not a nice reward, I’m not sure what is.

Yesterday’s gift of time … Showed up for a Toastmasters’ club board meeting. Some might say it was just another meeting. I say it’s one more step in a deeper commitment to help my club and connect with some really great people.

About Eric Winger

Our perception of time is key to how we use our time. The most fundamental way to change that perception is to give our time. This opens us up to new opportunities and ideas from which we can build to really make a difference. ... Yes, we *do* have time to make a difference!
